So, first off, let’s talk about the alleged abuse that took place before the Grammy’s with who seemed to be one of Hollywood’s cutest and most respectable couples. Though secretive about their relationship status, Rihanna (a.k.a. Robin Fenty) and R&B singer Chris Brown have been together more than a year. The two have been spotted holding hands and kissing at public events—including after Rihanna’s concerts. However, the romance ended after an altercation, Feb. 8. The female victim—identified in numerous reports as Rihanna— received hospital treatments for her injuries. The alleged abuse took place the morning before they were to perform at the Grammy’s, but neither showed for the event. Brown turned himself into the Los Angeles Police Dept. later that day. Brown said he is “sorry and saddened” by what happened, and that “much of what has been speculated or reported on blogs and or reported in the media is wrong,” according to reports. Brown was later released on a $50,000 bail; he is set to appear in court March 5. Rihanna remained out of the public eye and canceled several tour dates in Indonesia where she was supposed to perform with Brown. Brown is also taking the heat from his sponsors. Wrigley announced that it would be pulling all TV ads featuring Brown. Also, the Got Milk marketing department announced they would pull Brown from their well-known milk mustache campaign. Will Smith defended the couple in a statement to Extra, “People should take a minute before they jump on it and judge . . . I don’t think it’s up to us, specifically the media, with such a fast hand to try to chop someone’s head off.” In more positive news: Mandy Moore is officially engaged to her boyfriend of a few months, Ryan Adams. A date is not yet confirmed, but Moore’s publicists confirmed to People that the two are getting married. Jessica Simpson once again publicly proclaimed her love for her NFL boyfriend at a concert last Valentine’s Day. Simpson gushed about her wonderful life with Romo, and dedicated a song to the one who has, according to Simpson, made her see herself in the best mirror possible—more power to them! Musical artist M.I.A., 31, delivered her first child, a baby boy, Feb. 11. Stars are known to give their children weird names, and M.I.A. is no different. She named her son Mathangi Alrupragasm because of her Sri Lankan descent. She and fiancé, Benjamin Bronfman, lead singer and guitarist of The Exit, announced the pregnancy last October.

Shortly before Hallmark’s most celebrated holiday, stars made some dramatic changes in relationships—from Rihanna and Chris Brown’s Grammy meltdown to Mandy Moore’s engagement to longtime boyfriend, Ryan Adams. Also, Jessica Simpson once again declared her everlasting love to Tony Romo, but no one’s surprised about that one, and recording artist M.I.A. welcomed home a bundle of joy.
